A popular procedure done in our office by Dr. Anil Shah. is also the Deep Neck Lift or 5 Layer Neck.
A Neck Lift is a type of facelift performed when liposuction is not enough to contour the neck and there is need to work on deeper structures. Dr. Shah performs on patients what he calls the 5 Layer Neck, referring to the 5 layers of the neck: Subcutaneous fat, Platysma muscle, Deep fat, Anterior belly of digastric muscle, Submandibular gland excess.
This technique requires an advanced anatomy knowledge of the neck, while most surgeons ignore this area for the most part, Dr. Shah has written three landmark articles on facial anatomy and still teaches anatomy courses at the University of Chicago.
