It is important to understand the difference between Neurotoxins and fillers. Although both are injectables they serve two very different functions.
Neurotoxins, such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, are commonly referred to as “wrinkle-relaxers.” They work by temporarily blocking nerve receptors in muscles, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane are used to add volume, fullness and plumpness.
The newest addition to the neurotoxin family is Daxxify. This injectable offers effects that may last longer than other neuromodulators. What is special about Daxxify is that patients may only need two treatments annually, depending on individual results. Revance Therapeutics, the company behind Daxxify, claims it as an aesthetic injection for temporarily improving moderate to severe frown lines. Its median duration is six months, with some patients experiencing results up to nine months.
Botox has long been a fan favorite of the patients of Aesthetic skin Chicago. A little known fact about Botox is that it was originally FDA-approved in 1989 for treating eye muscle problems. Over the years however it has gained approval for cosmetic treatments, including frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
Botox is an injectable wrinkle muscle relaxer using botulinum toxin type A (OnabotulinumtoxinA) to temporarily relax muscles and reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.
Similarly to Botox, Dysport is an FDA-approved neurotoxin used to temporarily reduce glabella lines, which appear between the eyebrows. Treatment takes about 10 to 20 minutes, with results lasting up to four months and visible in 2-3 days.

Microtox® is a cool new way to administer Botox, because it has an instant tightening and lifting effect. This technique involves multiple tiny injections just below the skin surface. It works well for jawline slimming, cheek crepiness, and other concerns.
