Many of our patients seek augmentation of the gluteal area, also known as the buttocks. As patients get older, they tend to notice that their butt or gluteal area will get flatter and saggy as the muscle and fat atrophies. This can be difficult for patients, and while there are many options for augmenting the gluteal area, one of our favorites is the use of Sculptra.
Sculptra stands out for its ability to provide a nonsurgical, noninvasive approach to adding volume to this area. This procedure is relatively painless and is conveniently performed in the office. Most patients do a series of one to four injections. Another benefit of this product is it can last up to four years.

WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to help stimulate collagen production and restore volume in areas of the face affected by signs of aging, such as wrinkles, lines, and facial hollows. It is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible substance that gradually encourages collagen growth.
HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORKS?
Sculptra works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. The poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra acts as a scaffold to promote collagen formation over time. This collagen-building process helps improve skin thickness, texture, and overall volume, leading to a more youthful appearance.
WHERE SCULPTRA CAN BE USED?
Sculptra is typically used on areas of the face, including the cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds (smile lines), and chin. It can also be used to address volume loss in the hands. Sculptra is also a popular choice for addressing volume loss in the gluteal area.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
The number of Sculptra sessions required varies depending on individual factors such as the degree of volume loss and desired results. Typically, 2 to 3 sessions are recommended, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart, for optimal results.
ARE SCULPTRA INJECTIONS PAINFUL?
Sculptra injections are generally well-tolerated. A local anesthetic or numbing cream is often applied to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. Some patients may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site, but these effects usually subside within a few days.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Sculptra results are not immediate but gradually develop over several weeks to months as collagen production increases. The effects can last up to two years or more, making it a long-lasting option for rejuvenation.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECT?
